EUG 2022: Sambodrom and Erasmus+ Run
This weekend was busy, not only with sports but also with fun, exciting and competitive side events, such as Sambodrom and Erasmus+ run. Both events happened on the most famous and long street in Lodz, Piotrkowska Street.
This Saturday, people had the chance to experience a march in Lodz in a colourful procession. To the rhythm of samba and with dancing steps, athletes and volunteers who have come to the European Universities Games 2022 marched down Piotrkowska Street. The organisers of the ‘Sambodrome’ also invited citizens of Lodz to join them to this fun event.
At the halfway point of the Games, athletes from, among others, Germany, Ukraine, France, Cyprus, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia and, of course, Poland –met to march down the length of Piotrkowska Street to the rhythm of samba, led by dancers from Brazil.
The colourful procession was be led by a truck with a platform, from which Latin American sounds blasted and entertained the visitors along with the dancers that put the participants in a memorable mood. The musical parade started by the Games countdown clock, at Piotrkowska Street.
EUGenio was also having an amazing time, hanging out with the dancers on the march and showing his dancing moves on the Sambodrom truck.
Today after the fun part of last night, the 6th edition of the Erasmus+ run happened at the same place, at Piotrkowska Street in Lodz.
The 6th International Erasmus Run is an accompanying event to the European Universities Games 2022, which is coordinated in Poland by the Lodz University of Technology, the Academic Sports Association, and the authorities of the City of Lodz.
The European University Sports Association (EUSA) was also represented with its own team consisted of Mr Andrej Pisl, Ms Eszter Gulyás, Mr Nathan Liegeon and Ms Anna Edes, all in the team of EUSA Management, working on the European University Games 2022.
The competition was in the relay race over 10 km and with participation of teams consisted of 4 people. The starting order of the relay members was free, and each participant must have run at least one shift meaning one lap of 1 km.
The ones who gathered a team of 4 were eligible to apply and participated and of course had the chance to get starting packages, including: running t-shirt, running bag, starting number, medal.
It was a great run to be part of, a showcase of teamwork and support.
