EUG 2022: NUSA Coordination Meeting

Today 16th of July, a NUSA Coordination Meeting was held at the Institute of Physics of University of Technology of Lodz. Present were representatives of 17 national university sports associations (NUSA) and representatives of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

The opening words of this NUSA Coordination Meeting were given from Mr Matjaž Pečovnik, Secretary General of EUSA, who thanked the representatives for attending this meeting and invited them to share any challenges or questions they have regarding the time in Lodz, by far.

Next to greet the present NUSA representatives was Mr Adam Roczek, President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), who addressed that besides all the challenges that the organization of these games had, he is happy to see everyone after a long time of not having EUSA events happening. He also stated that the start of the competitions is going smoothly, without any major concerns or challenges. He assured the attendees that the Organizational Committee and EUSA, both are going to make sure, that everyone will have a great stay and enjoyable time here at the European Universities Games 2022 in Lodz, Poland.

Mr Haris Pavletić, 1st Vice-President of EUSA was also present and had a welcoming message for the NUSA representatives. He expressed his happiness of seeing that over 1600 participants have already arrived in Lodz and started this journey of the European Universities Games 2022. Addressed were also a few challenges that have already arouse and have been taken care of. Both Mr Pečovnik and Mr Pavletić, invited the NUSA representatives to collaborate as much as possible with the OC and EUSA, to make these games run as smoothly as possible and to assure that everyone is having a great time.

Representatives of the Organizational Committee, Mr Dominik Kowalczyk and Ms Paula Leśniewska shared information about tomorrow’s Opening Ceremony. They presented the schedule and location of the transportation and other details regarding the march pass and the presence of the athletes and officials. They also invited all the attendees present to make sure they stay until the end of the ceremony, together with their athletes so they can see the great work that was put in the spectacle of the Opening Ceremony.

As we previously mentioned this year’s edition of the European Universities Games will start with a grand opening ceremony on the evening of July 17, starting at 9PM. The event will be held in the largest sports and entertainment hall in Lodz, the Atlas Arena, which is in full preparation mode. The Organizational Committee reported that every seat was sold out and they expect full arena and great atmosphere.
