While the basketball and handball teams are still competing to earn their place on the podium, the schedule of the 12th competition day at the European Universities Games 2022 Lodz displayed finals and awards ceremonies in football, badminton, and swimming competitions.

SMS and Minerska stadiums were filled with competitive energy for both men and women football finals. Women semi-final took place first, with the University of Coimbra celebrating their 3rd place earned. The final followed with the University of Bordeaux (FRA) winning the title of European Universities Champion at the end of their match against Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University (UKR).

Regarding the men competition, the University of Split (CRO) and the Ramon Llull University (ESP) played a tight match for the bronze trophy. The suspense went on as the Croatian university won the penalty kicks. The final was played between the State University of Trade and Economics (UKR) and West University of Timisoara (ROU). West University of Timisoara (ROU) is the one holding the 1st place on the podium.
Both men and women football teams that won 1st place automatically qualified to the FISU University World Cup 2023.

The badminton team finals unfolded in the middle of the day with intense matches. On the podium, two teams stood at the 3rd place: Gdansk University of Technology (POL) and Technological University of Dublin (IRL). The University of Strasbourg (FRA) took the lead and won gold trophy while the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (UKR) stood at the 2nd place of the podium.

The EUG2022 badminton competition will continue at Zatoka Sportu for three more day with the single competition.

Today was also the start of the swimming competition. The first heats happened in the morning, and the finals and awards ceremonies were held in the afternoon in the following competitions for both men and women in 50m, 100m and 200m:  freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and medley relay 4x100m. 

On the technical aspect of the EUG2022, the three last General Technical Meetings were held this afternoon for taekwondo, karate, and sport climbing. These three competitions will start tomorrow.
