EUG 2022: day of judo, basketball and beach handball
Two more sports became part of the daily schedule today, basketball and judo, while beach handball already came to the semi-finals and main rounds.
Early in the morning the fights in judo have begun. Competitors ready to show their readiness, will to win and earn medals, were participating and competing determined and eager to secure a place on the podium. First medal awards already happened today. Competitors of judo both in men’s and women's categories had the chance to win and earn medals around their necks.
At the same time basketball had its kick off as well. Teams already started their journey in the first rounds, moving up the scale or qualification. We visited the match between Karlsruhe Institute Of Technology (GER) playing against Polish Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte (POL) which ended with result 54:70.
In the afternoon it was time for beach handball. At Geyers Gardens, on both courts, matches were going on. On court 1 we witnessed two matches of the semifinals of women. First semi final was played between Karoli Gaspar University of the Reformed Church (HUN) and University of Goettingen (GER). Karoli Gaspar University of the Reformed Church (HUN) secured themselves place in the finals tomorrow.
In the second match, place in tomorrows finals was secured by University of Zagreb (CRO). They played a match against Lodz University of Technology (POL) that ended with result of 2:0.
Matches were also played on the other court where men teams played in the main round. We visited the matches between German Sport University Cologne (GER) playing with Ozyegin University (TUR) and Warsaw University of Life Science (POL) playing against Karlsruhe Institute Technology (GER).
Meanwhile at the GTM room in the Accreditation Center, representatives of teams and athletes that are going to compete in badminton and handball,had the chance to hear more details about the rules, regulations and to be present when the draws were made.
