EUG 2016 sports meeting in Zagreb

The Sports department of the Organising Committee of the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 (EUG 2016) and the Sports Manager of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) held a meeting about the EUG sport program on May 21, 2015. During the meeting, the official sports program was discussed, and the final proposal of places, sport venues and official dates were presented.

The meeting served also for the evaluation of the inspection visit reports, which were prepared by EUSA Technical Delegates during the Convention organized in Zagreb in March 2015. Mrs Danira Bilic, EUG Sport Coordinator and Mr Patrik Perosa, EUSA Sports Manager realized that almost all sport facilities are already fulfilling the minimum technical requirements, which is very positive information at this stage of the preparation for the EUG.

Discussing sports programme

During the second part of the meeting the new proposed venues for Chess and Bridge were inspected. Both venues are in the program of reconstruction, which is one of the EUG legacy. With this new proposal, participants of both events will compete in the campus where the participants will be accommodated.

Inclusion of students with disabilities

The participants also discussed the inclusion of sports with disabilities within the 2016 Games. The meeting concluded in a good atmosphere which is reflecting good cooperation between EUSA and EUG sport departments. Outcomes will be presented to the EUSA Executive Committee members, who meet end of May in Hannover.
