EUC Volleyball coming to Budapest in 2025
The city of Budapest in Hungary will host the European Universities Volleyball Championship in 2025. The event will take place from 27 July to 3 August.
An inspection visit was organized from 17-19 November 2024. The EUSA Technical Delegate for Volleyball, Mr Pablo Martinez Martinez, and the EUSA Sports Coordinator, Ms. Eszter Gulyas, visited Budapest to check on the ongoing preparations on behalf of the European University Sports Association.
Representing the Organizing Committee, attending the inspection visit were the Competition Director, Mr Zsolt Ludvig, CEO of the Hungarian University of Sports Science Sports Club and EUSA Executive Committee Member, Mr. Zoltan Rakaczki, and members of the Organizing Committee, Mr Mate Nagy, Mr Attila Fiko, and Mr Agoston Koch. On behalf of the Hungarian University Sports Federation, MEFS Secretary General, Mr. Peter Juhasz, and Deputy Secretary General, Mr Gyorgy Kovacs, were present during the meetings, while Mr Attila Merth represented the Hungarian Volleyball Federation.
The Inspection Visit team visited the Rector’s Office, where Prof. Tamas Sterbenz, the rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science, welcomed the delegation.
The rector highlighted the importance of the event next year since the university will celebrate its centenary. At this meeting, the Head of Communication, Mr. Daniel Mezei, was also present to discuss the promotional aspects.
Following the meetings were visits to the sports venues, namely the newly built Dr. Koltai Jeno Sports Center, Szent Imre and Szent Margit Secondary School Sports Halls, and MOM Sports Center, as well as the dormitories, catering and accreditation areas, and other training halls at the university campus.
EUSA team expressed gratitude to the OC for their hospitality and commended their excellent preparations thus far, noting the organizers' aim to host a top-tier championship with a vibrant student atmosphere.
