EUC Tennis in Bar concludes

The 9th European Universities Tennis Championship concluded on September 8th in the evening with an exciting closing ceremony at the Tennis Club Bar. Over 100 participants representing 18 universities from 14 European countries took part in this year’s edition of the event.

 

In men’s finals, the champions title went to Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics from Russia, winning a thrilling and tight final match against the University Joseph Fourier of Grenoble from France.

In women finals, the champions title went also to Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics from Russia by winning an exciting final match against University Paris Dauphine from France.

Medals and awards were presented by Mr Ceslovas Gabraliauskas, EUSA Executive Committee representative, Mr Daniel Studer, EUSA technical delegate for tennis, Mr Dragan Simovic, Vice-president of the Municipality of Bar, Mr Boris Sekulic, President of the Students Sports Association of Montenegro and the Organizing Committee and Mr Ratko Sekulic, President of the Tennis Club Bar.

 

The EUSA flag was passed to the two players from the Netherlands, Kim van der Horst and Kim Popping, symbolically representing the host of the 2014 European Universities Games, to be held Rotterdam. In her short speech, Kim was very grateful to this year’s organisers for their immense work and invited all players and officials to Rotterdam.

The next European Universities Tennis Championship will take place in Wroclav (POL) in 2015 and all teams are warmly welcome to also join us at the next European Universities Games in July 2014 in Rotterdam.
