EUC Tennis and Padel to be hosted by Combra in 2025

The city of Coimbra, Portugal, will be hosting the European Universities Tennis and Padel Championships in 2025. The event will take place next summer from 28 July to 3 August.

An inspection visit was organised from 22-24 November 2024, where EUSA Technical Delegate for Tennis Mr Tomas Pavlovsky, and EUSA Sports Coordinator Ms Eszter Gulyas visited Coimbra, to check on the ongoing preparations on behalf of the European University Sports Association.



Representing the Organizing Committee, attending the inspection visit were the President of the Portugal University Sports Federation (FADU), Mr Ricardo Nora, Vice President of FADU, Mr Diogo Salgado Braz, Vice President of the Academic Association of Coimbra, Mr Diogo Jorge Lopes, Vice Director of the University Stadium of the University of Coimbra, Ms Marianna Cardoso and two delegates of the Academic Association of Coimbra, Mr Joao Canoso and Mr Cristiano Goncalves.



The Inspection Visit team visited the University Stadium of the University of Coimbra, where they had a meeting to discuss and check formal, technical, and logistic requirements.



Following the meetings were visits to the sports venues, namely to the Tennis Complex of the University Stadium, then to the Polo II Residences and Canteen.

In this area will be the courts for Padel built, starting the construction phase in January 2025. The project was presented by Mr Miguel Branco from the University of Coimbra and the Vice President of the National Padel Federation, Mr Edgar Paiva.

The delegation discussed general competition details, including the competition days, number of teams and format of competition on the 6 courts being built. EUSA is looking forward to the first edition of a Padel Championship in EUSA history.

After an evening visit to the coastal windy city of Figueira da Foz decorated for Christmas, EUSA team thanked the OC delegation for the hospitality and offered congratulations for their exemplary preparatory efforts. EUSA underscores the organizers' commitment to hosting a technically rigorous championship that cultivates a stimulating and supportive student atmosphere.
