EUC Tennis 2023 kicks off in Granada
The European Universities Tennis Championsip that will take place from 3rd to 9th of July, was officially opened yesterday at an enjoyable Opening Ceremony, in Granada at Hospital Real, the Rectorate’s building.
The Ceremony was attended by Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General, Mr Aitor Canibe, Chief of the Promotion and Innovation in Sports, Ms María de Nova Pozuelo, Managing Director of Sports Values, Mr Pedro Mercado Pacheco, Rector of the University of Granada, and Jordi Mr Joan Mercadé Torras, OC Director.
The Competition will host 13 female teams and 16 male teams from as many as 23 universities from 13 countries.

EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.
The competition is organised by the Comité Español de Deporte Universitario (NUSA) and the University of Granada with the contribution of the Consejo Superior de Deportes and the Junta de Andalucía.With the European Unniversities Tennis Championships, the University of Granada is taking taking the leap towards international events.
EUSA is represented by Mr Liviu Matac, EUSA SCAC Chair, Technical Delegate Mr Michal Sikorski and Ms Sara Rozman, EUSA Education and Development Manager. They will make sure that the event will run smoothly and without problems.
The title of European Universities Tennis Champion is defended by the EUG 2022 Champions Kozminski University (Men), from Poland, and University of Innsbruck (Women), from Austria.
Before the Opening Ceremony, the General Technical Meeting took place, hosting the draw for the competition.
The Organising Committee welcomes all teams to this Championship. We are looking forward to the development of the event we have so carefully curated. We wish the best to all participants and hope they enjoy their stay in the beautiful city of Granada. We hope this Championship will open the door to future EUSA events.
The Organizing Committee along with EUSA Representatives, had the chance to visit the first matches of the competition today.
