The opening ceremony of the 7th European Universities Tennis Championship took place on Sunday, July 25 at the Pateo das Escolas of University of Coimbra.

 

34 delegations of 16 countries were presented with magnificent historical scenery of University of Coimbra. At the ceremony, to receive “European friends”, were Coimbra Academic Association President, Miguel Portugal, Organizer Committee President, Ricardo Duarte, Academic Federation of University Sports President, Andre Couto, EUSA Technical Delegate, Nick Grivas, and City Council Sport Responsible, Luis Providencia. In representation of the University Rector was the vice-rector, Henrique Madeira. Also present were the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Dr. Laurentino Dias, and The President of Portuguese Olympic Committee, Commander Vicente de Moura.

On Saturday, the draws were made at the Vila Gale Hotel.
