EUC Table Tennis in Zonguldak concludes

The 6th European Universities Table Tennis Championship has concluded on June 22nd with an exciting Closing Ceremony at the Campus of the Bülent Ecevit University in Zonguldak.  

 

119 participants representing 26 universities from 11 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event.

The event saw interesting and quality matches

 

In men’s finals, the title of champion went to Rzeszow University of Technology from Poland, winning the team from Russian State University for the Humanities.

In women's finals, the title of champion went to Kazan Volga Federal University from Russia, winning the University of Warsaw from Poland.

Other categories included Doubles Men and Women and Singles Men and Women, where athletes representing universities from Poland and Russia took the gold medals.

Medals and awards were presented by Mrs Ivana Ertlova, EUSA EC Representative, Mr Mustafa Gumus, Chairman of the OC, Mr Haluk Guven, Vice- Rector of the Bülent Ecevit University and Mr Andrzej Hrehorowicz, EUSA Technical Delegate for Table Tennis.

The EUSA flag was passed to the Dutch students of the University of Amsterdam, symbolically representing the next EUSA event to feature Table Tennis.

In her closing speech, Mrs Ertlova invited the participants to come to Rotterdam in 2014, to take part in the 2nd European Universities Games. The 7th European Universities Table Tennis Championship will otherwise take place in Geneva, Switzerland in June 2015.
