EUC Table Tennis 2019 concludes in Camerino
The 9th European Universities Table Tennis Championship drew to a close on July 20 with an exciting Closing Ceremony in the historical setting of Rocca Borgesca, a medieval fortress, in Camerino, Italy.
Over 140 participants representing 31 Universities from 15 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event, which saw five days of riveting action taking place in the quaint Italian town.
In men’s teams finals, the title of champion went to the University Of Nisantasi from Turkey who won a thrilling final match against Magnitogorsk State Technical University from the Russian Federation.
Russia’s Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov were the gold medalists in the women’s team finals, beating Great Britain’s University of Nottingham to the title.
In men’s doubles finals, Piotr Chodorski and Ihor Zavadskyi from Poland’s State School of Higher Education in Zamość made it to the top of the podium after earning victory over Isakov Ilia and Shvets Kirill from Russia’s Magnitogorsk University.
Russian duo Ekaterina Guseva And Ekaterina Cherniavskaia from Magnitogorsk University claimed the women’s doubles prize after defeating Carol Klara and Jazbec Ida from Croatia’s University Of Zagreb in the final.
In men’s singles finals, Ibrahim Gündüz from Nisantasi University in Turkey was named the overall champion after his win over Aleksandr Tiutriumov from Russia’s Magnitogorsk University in the final, while Russia’s Ekaterina Okhotnikova from Kazan Innovative University Named After V.G. Timiryasov claimed the women’s title after beating her doubles partner Daria Shadrina in the final match.

The Organizing Committee and one of the event’s sponsors selected the recipients for the Best Men’s Player award, which was given to Ibrahim Gündüz from Nisantasi University in Turkey while the Best Women’s Player award was given to Ekaterina Okhotnikova from Russia’s Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov.
The medals and awards were given by OC President Mr. Stefano Belardinelli; Mr Luciano Barboni, Rector Delegate University of Camerino; Mr.Sandro Sborgia, Mayor of Camerino and EUSA Delegate Mr Andrzej Hrehorowicz, while the closing and award ceremony was presented by Mr Marco Moscatelli, Ms Giorgia Silvestri and Mr Marco Belardinelli.
The next European Universities Table Tennis Championship will take place in Olomouc, Czech Republic and all teams are warmly welcome to join the next event.
