EUC Rugby 7s 2023 comes to an end
The European Universities Rugby 7’s Championship has finally concluded on the 31st of August with an exciting Closing Ceremony in Lisbon, at Estádio Universitário de Lisboa.
The event gathered over 200 people. Athletes came from 9 Universities from 6 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event. This was FADU Portugal University Sports’ 40th international event as a host.
In the men’s finals, the title of champions went to the University of La Rochelle with a perfect campaign without any loss. (6V, 0E, 0D)
In the women’s finals, the title of champions went to the University of Rennes 2 after showcasing great results throughout the entire competition, with only victories. (6V, 0E, 0D)
The medals and awards were presented by Andreas Csonka – Member of the EUSA Executive Committee, Ricardo Nora – President of FADU – Portugal Sports University (FADU), Luís Ferreira – Dean of the University of Lisbon, Ângelo Pereira – Sports Council of the Lisbon City Hall and Manuel Matos – Vice-President of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon.

EUC Rugby 7s – Men’s

The Fair Play award was given to Jozef Pilsudski Academy of P.E. (POL) at the Women’s competition, and to Camilo José Cela University (ESP) at the Men’s championship.
The MVP awards went to Margaux Pufros from the University of Rennes 2 (FRA) at the Women’s competition, and Lucas Zamora from the University of La Rochelle (FRA) at the Men’s championship.
The Wooden Spoon in the women's competition was given to Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, while in the men competition went in the hands of University of Goettingen.
The final words of appreciation and conslusion of this great event were given to Mr Ricardo Nora and Mr Andreas Csonka, who thanked the athletes and officials for making this European Universities Rugby 7s Championship amazing, showcasing great athleticism, great effort, fairplay and helped create another unforgetable championship.
The next EUC will take place in Ankara, Turkey from 21-24 of July, 2025 and all teams are warmly welcomed to join the next European Universities Rugby 7’s Championships.
