The 5th European Universities Rowing Championship 2009 finished on Saturday, September 5, on the scenic Lake Goplo in Kruszwica (POL) 14 Countries, 70 Universities, 353 Athletes and, 57 Officials  participated on the event. Whilst only a small town the local rowing club and the town and regional council officials provided excellent hospitality and practical support, enabling the hard working Organising Committee to deliver an outstanding event, including for the first time at EUSA-Rowing live, multi-camera, national TV coverage of Finals Day.

Racing was again of the highest standard with several athletes coming to compete at EUSA from the World Championships. Record times were set in nearly half of the events.
The overall strength of the Polish crews, especially the Bydgoszcz crews, was very impressive. Poland won with 211 points the nations' overall beating Great Britain (118) and Germany (82).

Belgium, Lithuania and Norway made their first appearances at an EUSA Rowing, a sign that the event still continues to grow.

Overall EUC Rowing 2009 again raised the bar, friendly and efficient organisation, high quality racing & an excellent venue making the job facing the Amsterdam Organising Committee in 2010 all the more interesting.
