EUC Karate starts
The Opening Ceremony of the 6th European Universities Karate Championship took place on 19th July 2013 in Budapest at the Budaörs Sports Hall. The Ceremony was attended by EUSA Honorary President Alberto Gualtieri, HUSF President Dr. Adam Kiss, President of the Hungarian Karate Federation Dr. János Mészáros, Norbert Kiss deputy state secretary for youth and sport and Miklós Tóth vice-president of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, and the representatives of the host universities.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee participants were welcomed by Adam Kiss and János Mészáros. EUSA EC Delegate Alberto Gualtieri welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities great competitions and all the best. He also thanked the Organizing Committee for all their contributions.
The competition is organized by the Hungarian University Sports Federation (HUSF), hosted by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the Eötvös Loránd University and the National University of Public Service with the contribution of the Hungarian Karate Federation.
Although this is the first time that the Hungarian University Sports Federation organizes an EUSA event, in the previous decades several significant international university sports events took place in Hungary (2 World University Games, 1 Summer Universiade, 10 World University Championships).
Championship takes place from 18th to 21st July 2013 in Budapest, Budaörs. EUSA is represented by Honorary President Alberto Gualtieri and the Technical Delegate is Rajko Vujosevic. They will make sure that the event will run smoothly and without problems.
The Competition is hosting 283 athletes from as many as 127 Universities from 27 countries, participating in kata and kumite karate competitions.
