EUC Judo starts

The Opening Ceremony of the 2nd European Universities Judo Championship took place on 4th of October in Coimbra at the University of Coimbra. The Ceremony was attended by the athletes and officials from delegations of universities from several countries – Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey. 

Opening speeches

 

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, participants were welcomed by the president of the president of the Academic Association of Coimbra, Mr Ricardo Morgado. The President of EUSA, Mr Adam Roczek, welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities great competitions and all the best. He also thanked the Organizing Committee for all their contributions.

The competition is organized by the European University Sport Association (EUSA), National Portuguese Sports Federation (FADU), Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC) and University of Coimbra (UC), with contribution of Coimbra City Hall and the Portuguese Judo Federation.

The Organization is really proud of the championship, in fact, the President of the University Students’ Association – Associação Académica de Coimbra (AAC) – wished that “this championship reinforce a new chapter of the history of the University of Coimbra and on its international relationships now also in the field of sports, started in 2010 with the European Universities Tennis Championship.

EUSA is represented by its president Mr Roczek, Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik and the Technical Delegate Mr Branisalv Crnogorac. They will make sure that the event will run smoothly and without problems. The event, taking place in Mario Mexia Sports Hall, Coimbra between October 2 and 7, is hosting more than 200 athletes, representing 52 universities from 15 countries.
