The Opening Ceremony of the 3rd European Universities Judo Championship took place on October 8th in Reims at the Palais du Tau.

The Ceremony was attended by Sport delegate of the city of Reims Mr Bernard Landureau, Executive Committee member of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Mr Arie Rosenzweig, OC representative Mr Laurent Duclos, all participants and other invited guests.



On behalf of the Organizing Committee participants were first welcomed by Mr Duclos. Mr  Rosenzweig greeted all participants on behalf of EUSA and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities great competitions and all the best. He also thanked the Organizing Committee for all their contributions.



March pass of the athletes, playing the Gaudeamus Igitur anthem and oath of the athletes and officials was followed by a cultural programme.



The competition is organized by the Regional Committee of University Sport Reims Champagne Ardenne and the University of Reims. The regional university sport committee already had the pleasure to organize the 6th World Universities Bridge Championships in 2012, a soccer game between the men’s French and British team in 2014, and the Trination Rugby Cup in 2015.



The competitions in EUC Judo take place on October 9th and 10th in the Rene Tys complex in Reims.



EUSA is represented at the event by Mr Arie Rosenzweig and the Technical Delegate Mr Branislav Crnogorac, assisted by Mrs Tatjana Cuk. Alongside with Ms Abosede Ajayi from the EUSA Medical Commission and Mr Romain Charrier, Project Assistant/EVS and in close cooperation with the Organising Committee and Referees, they make sure that the event runs smoothly.



The Event is hosting 80 male and 63 female athletes representing as many as 88 Universities from 19 countries. Live streaming from the event has been made possible as well, so you are invited to follow the event online!
