EUC Judo 2015 concludes in Reims

The European Universities Judo Championship 2015 concluded on October 10th with an exciting Closing Ceremony at the Hippodrome of Reims. Over 140 participants representing 88 Universities from 19 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event.

The third European Universities Judo Championship was a great success, as reported by the participants. This is the real victory, students having competition and fun all together, learning about their differences and cultures. Cultural and socials events were also on the program of the championship, including visits to famous sights, also noting the Champagne region.

Female judokas

The European Universities Judo Championship couldn’t have been possible without the help of all the volunteers who took part into this event. During this championship, the athletes and volunteers had the chance to meet with famous Judo champions who came to observe the matches and award the medals. Also kids from the different school of Reims came to see and take part to demonstrations and Judo championship fights. The ambience in the fight area was very exiting with all the spectators cheering for their favourite athletes and enjoying the competitions.

Men's competitions

Medals and awards were presented by authorities of French Judo Federation, including its President, some world champions and medallists in Olympic Games. EUSA representatives, Presidents of French organisations and City officials also awarded the medallists.

The EUSA Championship cup was given to the University of Valencia. Award was presented by Executive Committee member of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Mr Arie Rosenzweig.

At the end of event, the EUSA flag was passed to the city of Coimbra, Portugal who is the organiser of the next Championship in 2017. European universities student judokas and teams are warmly welcome to join the next European Universities Judo Championship, as well as to take part in the European Universities Games 2016, which will also feature judo as one of the sports.
