EUC Judo 2011 concluded
The 1st European Universities Judo Championship concluded yesterday in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was organised on a very high quality level by the Committee for University Sports of Bosnia and Herzegovina, lead by its President Mr Branislav Crnogorac, and the organising team, including a team of dedicated referees.
'We couldn't imagine a better start of Judo on the EUSA sports program' said Mr Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General, who thanked the Organising Committee on behalf of EUSA
The first edition of Judo Championship saw the participation of 126 student athletes and 29 officials coming from 14 European countries and representing 45 universities.
The largest number of participants came from the host country Bosnia and Herzegovina, followed by France and Turkey.
On the last day of the event, the competitions in the remaining categories were held. After very exciting matches, the winners became:
Women
-78 kg: Geraldine MENTOUOPOU, STAPS Orsay (FRA)
+78 kg: Emilie ANDEOL, UMLV (FRA)
- 90 kg: Aleksandra KUKOLJ, University of Belgrade (SRB)
Men:
-100 kg: Milan DISOVIC, University of Belgrade (SRB)
+100 kg: Ibro MILADIN, University of Travnik (BIH)
At the end of the event, the EUSA Flag was given to the representatives of the University of Coimbra, Portugal, which will organise the 2nd European Universities Judo Championship in 2013.
