EUC Handball to be held in Covilha in 2025

The city of Covilha in Portugal, will be hosting the European Universities Handball Championship in 2025. The event will take place from 22-28 July 2025.

An inspection visit was organised from 13-15 November, where EUSA Technical Delegate for Handball Ms Paivi Mitrunen visited Covilha to check the ongoing preparations.
This event will be the result of a collaboration between EUSA, FADU Portugal, the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and the UBI Academic Association (AAUBI), with the support of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, Covilha City Council and the Handball Federation of Portugal.

The visit was attended by various partner organisations and aimed to assess the infrastructure, accommodation and logistics for the competition.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, present during the inspection visit were: University of Beira Interior Rector Mario Raposo; University of Beira Interior vice-rector Amelia Augusto; Academic Association of the University of Beira Interior and OC President Joao Nunes; OC Secretary General Pedro Bernardo; City of Covilha Alderman Jose Oliveira; FADU President Ricardo Nora; FADU Secretary General Armenio Coelho; UBI Eduardo Alves; City of Covilha Municipal Sports Services Telma Madaleno; Portuguese Handball Federation Vice-President Joaquim Escada; and Portuguese Handball Federation representative Miguel Fonseca.

The visit's agenda included meetings with the Organising Committee and the Honorary Committee, as well as visits to hotels, sports halls, university residences and other support spaces. Over the three days, the teams analysed in detail the technical and logistical aspects of ensuring the success of the competition, which will bring student-athletes from several European universities to Covilha.

EUSA team thanks the OC for the hospitality and congratulated them on the great preparations so far, highlighting that the organizers are planning to organize a technically demanding championship with a very good student atmosphere.
