EUC Golf 2015 concluded

The European Universities Golf Championship 2015 concluded on Saturday September 19th with the finals and the Closing Ceremony at the Golfpark Waldkirch in St. Gallen.

78 participants representing 23 Universities from 11 European countries took part in the 4th edition of the event. It has been organised by the organising committee of the University of St. Gallen and supported by the Swiss University Sport Federation, with Mr Daniel Studer as the chair. 67 Volunteers were involved during the week and dedicated over 1700 hours for the Championship.

Female tournament

After four days of competitions, the male team from University of Stirling (GBR) as well as their female colleagues from University of Stirling (GBR) celebrated the title as winning teams.

Medallists women

In individual events, the best male golfer was Robin Dawson from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (IRL) with a total of 272 strikes, 12 under par. The women’s title was won by Joséphine Farrando, from ESCE Paris (FRA) with 292 strikes. Oliver Percy-Smith from Halmstad University (SWE) in men’s with 64 strikes and Therese Nerpin from Halmstad University (SWE) in women’s category with 66 strikes played the best rounds of the tournament. The University teams of Stirling (GBR), Maynooth (IRL) and Halmstad (SWE) in particular played brilliant golf with scores well below par.

Medallists men

Medals and awards were presented by EUSA Executive Committee member Mr Kemal Tamer, EUSA technical delegate for Golf Mr Rob Macpherson and Member of the Cantonal Government of St. Gallen Mr Stefan Kölliker.

Men's tournament

A special award was given to Theres Nerpin from the Halmstad University (SWE) for her Hole-in-one. The award was presented by Mr Stefan Gort (SUI), Manager of the Golpark Waldkirch.

Closing ceremony

Next year, golf will be part of the optional program of the European Universities Games in Zagreb-Rijeka (CRO) in July 2016. The next European Universities Golf Championship will take place in Liberec (CZE) in September 2017. All teams are warmly welcomed to join the two events.
