EUC Futsal 2011 update

EUC Futsal 2011 update

Before the beginning of this year's European Universities Futsal Championship, the Women’s tournament system has been decided to change to be similar with Men’s system. Winners of each group will earn a rest day (on Wednesday) meanwhile group seconds and thirds play an extra round. With this change there will be more important games for women also and all teams are offered fair chances to success.

Additional Portugese team just confirmed to participate

In the Men’s Championship there is also a change but it’s different kind of one: University of Coimbra from Portugal will replace the University of Tartu from Estonia that withdrew from the Championship. Artjom Beresnev from Estonia explains the reasons for withdrawal: "Unfortunatly we had to withdraw because we just don’t have enough players. Some football clubs don’t let their players to go while in the beginning they had nothing against that. This is a big disappointment."

Tears in Estonia were because of sadness but in Coimbra there were tears of joy. Coimbra finished in the second place in Portugal and a team has been presenting Portugal various times in the EUC Futsal. Now they will compete once again as well as Portuguese champions from Minho.

The 8th European University Futsal Championship will take place in Tampere, Finland, between July 17 and 24, 2011. Match timetable will be published during next week at the official website of the championship www.eucfutsal2011.com.
