EUC Football 2011 hosted by the champions

The upcoming 9th European University Football Championship will be hosted between June 19 and 26 in Istanbul by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) and Halic University, title defending Champion in men's competition.

In the 2010 final Halic defeated home team from Poland, Kielce Holly Cross University 3:1. Halic team won once again the Turkish national university championship this year and wish to be the most successful Men’s football team in EUSA history becoming European Universities Champion for the third time (catching their female colleagues from Madrid). Live transmission from the final game, held at the recently reconstructed Kasimpasa Stadium, on 26th of June 7 p.m. will be broadcast by Turkish public television.

Rector of the Halic UniversityThe Rector of Halic University prof. dr. Sait Sevgener in his welcome address said ‘We aim to emphasize the values of sport, exchange cultures, to promote friendship as well as the importance of fair play. We endeavor to ensure health and social-cultural cohesion for students and also to contribute the quality of the tournament. The event will give you a chance to experience Istanbul's beauty and the magical atmosphere as well. We are looking forward to seeing you at 9th European Universities Football Championship.’
