The European Universities Cycling Championship 2021, scheduled for June 8-13 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, will not take place.

The organisers of the event have been working relentlessly in recent months, weighing all options to organise a successful and safe event, however due to the measures against Coronavirus in the Netherlands, it will not be possible.

Following the cancellation of the FISU World University Cycling Championship in 2020, EUSA and the Organising Committee in Nijmegen agreed to host the very first European Universities Cycling Championship in 2021. It was hoped that by June the Coronavirus situation in the Netherlands would be brighter, however at this moment it is clear the event's organisation will not be possible under the current circumstances.

"The disappointment after last year's cancelled FISU WUC Cycling was huge, but I am incredibly proud of the way in which our young organisation has energetically turned that disappointment around over the past year into a hopeful and positive plan to organise the first ever EUC Cycling in 2021, together with EUSA. Unfortunately, it will not happen,” says Mr Joost van Wijngaarden, chairman of the organising foundation.

We thank all the teams that have registered their interest in the event. EUSA will continue to cooperate with the European Cycling Union (UEC) to see if future Cycling events can be organised for the European student community.
