EUC Beachvolleyball 2015 Inspection visit

EUC Beachvolleyball 2015 Inspection visit

This March EUSA Technical Delegate Daniela Erni Ruoss went to Larnaka to have a look at the location for the European Universities Beachvolleyball Championship 2015.

After arrival on Monday evening she was warmly welcomed by representatives of the University of Cyprus as well as Members of the Municipality of Larnaka with a traditional welcome dinner. The second day consisted of the obligatory venue visit including the fix part of the venue istallation and competition-related facilities. Additionally, Ms Ruoss met with the mayor and representatives of the Organizing Committee to discuss the further progress of the event.

Usually, Beachvolleyball venues are temporary construcions erected approximately one week prior to the event. However, the general venue layout, bleachers’ arrangement, the proximity between the venue, accommodation and catering facilities, and the venue location provided a positive first impression. As Larnaka has been hosting the FIVB World U21 and U19 Championships in 2014 and 2012, both venue and equipment are perfectly in line with FIVB standards. In addition, the municipality OC members have actively been involved in these former FIVB events and have hence acquired both knowledge and experience in organising high-level Beach Volleyball events. Lastly, the passion and motivation of the OC to organise high-level sport events - instilled by Larnaka’s very pro-active mayor - is providing a solid basis for a constructive and successful event collaboration.

Being hosted with great Cypriotic hospitality and having received and idea of the progress for the upcoming EUC Beachvolleyball 2015, Technical Delegate Ruoss is looking forward to a successful EUC Beach Volleyball event in Larnaka from 16-21 June 2015.
