The Opening Ceremony of the 9th European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship took place on July, in Porto, at Edifício Transparente’s Beach Arena. The Ceremony was attended by José Carlos Marques dos Santos, representing the University of Porto. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, participants were welcomed by Ruben Alves, President of the Organizing Committee.

EUSA EC Delegate Fernando Parente welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities great competitions and all the best. He also thanked the Organizing Committee for all their contributions.

The competition is organized by the Portuguese national university sports federation - FADU, Academic Federation of Porto, University of Porto and Polytechnic Institute, with contribution of Porto City Hall, Porto Lazer and the Portuguese Volleyball Federation.

This is the first EUC Beach Volleyball Championship hosted by Portugal, although the city of Porto has already organized several beach volleyball international competitions, such as the U19 World Championship. The 9th EUC Beachvolleyball Championship will take place from the 24th to the 28th of July, in Porto.

EUSA is represented by Mr Fernando Parente and the Technical Delegate is Mrs Daniela Erni Ruoss. They will make sure that the event will run smoothly and without problems. The Competition will host 25 men and 18 women from as many as 32 Universities from 17 countries.
