EUC Basketball 2010 starts

The Opening Ceremony of the 10th European Universities Basketball Championship took place on Monday, July 19, in Poznan at the Arena Hall. The Ceremony was attended by First Deputy Mayor of Poznan, Mr Tomasz Kayser, his Magnificency, Rector of the Poznan University of Technology, prof.  dr. Adam Hamrol, representative of the International University Sports Federation, Marian Dymalski, EUSA EC Delegate Mr Sinisa Jasnic and EUSA Technical Delegates Mr Michalis Kiritsis and Mr Peter George.

The prominent guests welcomed the participants and Mr Jasnic welcomed them on behalf of EUSA and wished all the best for the athletes and officials who came to test their skills and abilities. He also thanked the Organizing Committee for all their contribution. The ceremony also included the march pass of the athletes, cultural programme and a party afterwards.

The competition is organized by the University Sports Association of Poznan (AZS), with contribution of the Wielkopolska Region, the City of Poznan and the Polish Basketball Association.

The championship takes place from July 19 to July 24 in Poznan, Poland, with 15 male and 12 female university teams from 15 countries participating.

Prior to the opening ceremony, a press conference was help, with representatives of the Organising Committee and EUSA representatives, lead by Mr Sinisa Jasnic, EUSA EC Member.
