EUC 3x3 Basketball headed to Salerno in 2025
The city of Salerno in Italy will host the European Universities 3x3 Basketball Championship in 2025. The event will take place from 1st to 5th of August.
The EUSA delegation including Miha Zvan, EUSA Sports Manager, and Assistant Technical Delegate Hrvoje Marin, conducted a successful inspection visit to Salerno on February 4, 2025, to assess the readiness of the facilities and organizational plans for European Universities 3x3 Basketball Championship 2025.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, present during the inspection visit were Domenico Apicella – Rector's Delegate for Sport UNISA, Gaetano De Stefano – Technical office manager UNISA, Michele Di Ruocco – General Manager CUS Salerno, Guglielmo Mazzotti – Sports Director CUS Salerno and Fernando Mainenti – CUS Salerno (responsible for the EUC 3x3 Basketball 2025 operations), Dionisio Ferraro – Vice President CUS Salerno, Felice Lentini – Regional Delegate FEDERCUSI and Simona Sica, Representative of Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) - Campania.
The day began with site visits to the proposed student dormitories, official hotels, university facilities, and sports venues. These included the outdoor basketball court in front of the University of Salerno, as well as the indoor sports hall nearby, which will serve as a backup venue in case of inclement weather.
Following the site visits, a productive meeting was held at the CUS Salerno headquarters with key members of the Organizing Committee (OC). Discussions covered all functional areas related to the event's organization, including logistics, accommodation, catering, competition management, and marketing.
The inspection visit concluded with a debriefing session between the EUSA delegation and the OC leadership, confirming the next steps to be taken to ensure a successful event.
General feedback was provided, upcoming activities were reviewed, specific action points were agreed and challenges were discussed.
The EUSA team thanked the OC for the hospitality and congratulated them on the great preparations so far.
