EU Expert Group November meeting in Luxembourg

On November 19, 2015 the European Commission held the 4th meeting of the Expert Group on Human Resources Development in Sport (XG HR).

EUSA having an observer status, its Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik attended the meeting, which was organized in Luxembourg, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

At the beginning of the meeting of the Expert Group, the participants were addressed by Mr Yves Le Lostecque, the Head of the Sport Unit at the European Commission, who presented a short overview on the upcoming events, such as Erasmus +Seminar, EU Sports Forum and EU Week of Sports. The representatives of the EU Member States and the representatives of the observers were also welcomed by Mr Guy Taylor, the Expert Group Chair and Ms Agata Dziarnowska, EU Sport Unit Policy Officer.

Preparing for the EUSA presentation

During the session on the topics of volunteering, the participants discussed the draft document “Recommendations to encourage volunteering in sport, including best practices on legal and fiscal mechanisms”. Mr Pecovnik presented the details on the EUSA Volunteer Program, focusing on the next year’s European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka, where EUSA and Organising Committee expect over 2000 volunteers to be involved in organization of the event.

On November 20, a Conference on the European dimension of promoting Dual Careers in Sport was also held in Luxembourg.
