Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2025
On December 16, the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), in cooperation with the Sport Unit of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), organised the Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2025. The hybrid event was held in person in Brussels and streamed online.
The event focused on the funding opportunities for sport-related actions and projects within the Erasmus+ funding programme; discussing policy as well as offering advice and tips on how to prepare and submit proposals; and it served as a platform to network and meet potential partners.
Opening and introduction was made by Sophie Beernaerts, Director of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Glenn Micallef, the new European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport also addressed the 600 participants present in Brussels, and many more online.
The first plenary session was on Erasmus+ sport policy priorities. Floor van Houdt, Head of Sport Unit at DG EAC, together with Stefano Pintus presented the key policies and development as well as the outlines of the stakeholders’ findings from the SHARE 2.0 initiative, which the European University Sports Association (EUSA) is also a member of. Edina Elter, Chair of the Sport Working Party, Hungarian Presidency; Eva Rebmann from the EU Office of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) and Kai Troll from EuropeActive also contributed from the impact and applicability point of view.
The second plenary session was on Erasmus+ sport programme, opportunities and experiences. Theo Duivenvoorde Head of Erasmus Mundus & Sport Unit at EACEA, together with Gael Broze and Luciano Di Fonzo presented the characteristics and funding opportunities and also pointed out the novelties of the 2025 call and guide. Practical experiences from project management, implementation and partnerships were shared by Karlis Boitmanis from Latvian Football Federation and Andrej Pisl from the European University Sports Association and EUSA Institute. Discovering university sport and supporting dual career (DiscoverU) project was specifically mentioned as a good practice ongoing project supported by the European Union and coordinated by EUSA.
In the afternoon, three parallel sessions were held: Erasmus+ Sport mobility opportunities of sport staff; applying to the Sport main call; and Capacity Building funding opportunities.
Sport info day concluded with the session on harvesting ideas for the new programme, before the closing remarks given by Georg Haussler, Director of Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture.
The event was also attended by several representatives of EUSA members and associated members, as well as strategic partners and project partners.
Sport Info Day was also an opportunity for SHARE 2.0 Steering Committee to meet, and allowed plenty of networking opportunities and time for individual discussion.
Event recording and presentations will soon be available at the webpage of the event https://www.eacea.ec.europa.eu/news-events/events/info-session-erasmus-sport-2025-2024-12-16_en and https://www.b2match.com/e/erasmus-sport-info-day-2025.
