Erasmus+ Sport Cluster meeting held in Brussels
On December 4 and 5, the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency and the Sport unit of the European Commission organised in Brussels an Erasmus+ Sport Cluster Meeting on The role of sport in education: enhancing skills development and dual careers perspectives.
The meeting was an opportunity for stakeholders and Erasmus+ funding recipients to meet, monitor projects’ implementation, collect information on best practices, identify relevant outcomes and provide synergies across the sectors.
This third Erasmus+ Sport Cluster meeting focuses on the promotion of education in and through sport with special focus on skills development and implementation of the EU guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes. The meeting’s objective was also to identity good practices which can be used as a basis for the new generation of sport calls for proposals.
The programme consisted of plenary sessions on Dual career - from theory to reality, and Coach as teacher and lifelong learner, with High level policy session on What can we learn by practicing sport? and three thematic workshops: #BeAble on combining education and/or work with a sport career, #BeMore on skills through participation in sport activities and #BeBetter, focusing on coaching in a changing society.
European University Sports Association (EUSA) and its Institute was represented by the Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl.
The Cluster meeting was also an opportunity to meet partners and discuss progress of existing projects, as well as to explore new possibilities of cooperation.
EUSA Institute is currently actively taking part in several EU-funded projects focusing on dual career and skills development, leading Promoting Dual Career through Education of Young Journalists (PRODUCE) and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) projects, partnering in Education Model for Parents of AThletes In Academics (EMPATIA), Smart Sport, Media as a channel of Athletes’ Dual Careers promotion and education (EdMedia), Athletes Friendly Education (AFE), Skills for You(th) through Sport (SKYS), as well as being an associate partner in project Athletic migration: Dual career and qualification in sports (AMID).
