Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) of the Council of Europe (COE) organised an online Forum on Sport and Human Rights on Tuesday, June 1. The event was moderated and facilitated by Mr Stanislas Frossard, EPAS Executive Secretary at the Council of Europe.

In the Opening session, the introduction was given by Mr Jeroen Schokkenbroek, Director of Anti-Discrimination at the Council of Europe, before the start of the roundtables, and the closing summary was done by the Chair of the EPAS Governing Board, Mr Alexandre Husting.



The first roundtable focused on Arbitration, privacy and freedoms, discussing the topics of the right to fair trial, data protection and media freedom in sport. The second roundtable was on social rights and anti-discrimination, discussing the topics of young migrant athletes and human trafficking, economic and social rights of athletes, with focus on right to health, Racism and hate speech in sport, Gender equality in sport. Some of the transnational projects and initiatives of the Council of Europe, related to the topic of sport and human rights were also presented.



European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the EUSA Institute were following the event with great interest, as it directly affects also the work of the organisations, as well as an array of projects we are leading and are partnering in. EUSA is also an active member of the Consultative Committee of EPAS.
