ENSE Sport Summit 2017

The city of Aarhus, European Capital of Culture 2017, hosted during September 12-14 another milestone event – Sport Summit Aarhus 2017. Organized by the European Network of Sport Education (ENSE) in collaboration with the University of Aarhus, the European Athlete as Student (EAS), the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), and the Scandinavian Network for Elite Sport (SNE), the conference presented a unique opportunity to connect with leaders in the field of European Sport Education.

At the conference, new information, fresh research and projects in national and international level were presented around three main themes: Talent Development, Dual Career and Sport Education in Europe with the related topics on health, inclusion and businesses.

ENSE Sport Summit 2017

First day of the conference took place in in the Aarhus Concert Hall, where Mr Jens B Christensen, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Ms Laura Capranica, EAS President and Mr Paolo Parisi, ENSE President gave their opening speeches. Presentations and round table discussions on Talent Development in sport, research and business followed. In the afternoon, Ms Mette Bock, Danish Minister for Culture gave a speech on dual career, followed by several distinguished speakers ranging from scientists, researchers to CEOs lined up, giving the audience their views and thoughts on the main topic of the conference. The first day concluded with a reception at the City Hall.

Summit sessions

On the second day the conference moved to Aarhus University, which is with more than 45,000 students the leading national public research university with nationwide and international influence across the entire research spectrum. The day opened with a lecture from keynote speaker and followed with four sets of parallel sessions on Talent Development, Dual Carer, Sport and Physical Education in Europe and the SPEECH Project. Afternoon part of the conference offered another set of parallel sessions and keynote speakers form different areas of sport including Ms Sara Slott Petersen, silver medallist in Rio 2016 Olympics and Ms Agata Dziarnowska from the European Commission, DG EAC Sport Unit.

Participants

Post conference day was dedicated to the workshop titled How to develop a Dual Career Mindset in Youth Sport. The Post Conference Day was organized in cooperation with the European Athlete as Student (EAS), eliteidraetsgymnasier.dk and Elite Sports Academy Aarhus (ESAA).

EUSA and FISU delegates

Ms Sara Rozman, EUSA Education and Development Manager represented the European University Sports Association at the conference. International University Sports Federation (FISU) was represented by Mr Kole Gjeloshaj.
