ENGSO General Assembly 2022 in Faroe Islands
The 30th ENGSO General Assembly was organized and held in Torshavn, Faroe Islands and hosted by the Faroese Confederation of Sports and Olympic Committee, on 27-29 May, 2022.
The General Assembly was opened with welcome speeches from ENGSO President Mr. Stefan Bergh, the Prime Minister of Faroe Islands, Mr.Bárður á Steig Nielsen and the president of Faroese Confederation of Sports & Olympic Committee, Ms.Elin Heðinsdóttir Joensen.
EUSA representatives, the president of European University Sports Association (EUSA), Mr. Adam Roczek and EUSA Secretary General, Mr. Matjaž Pečovnik greeted the participants virtually and wished them a successful assembly.
The first day of the programme consisted of two highlighted topics and seminars on Sports recovery of Covid and a seminar on LGBTQ+ Equality in Sport.
The second day of the ENGSO General Assembly, was started with a HealthyLifestyle4All workshop, presenting the work of the Erasmus+ SPIRIT project and ENGSO Youth, with the main focus on advocacy, communication and digitalisation in the field of health, followed by a session on European Sport Model with a guest speaker Florencia Van Houdt, Head of Sport Unit at the European Commission.
This day was concluded with ENGSO General assembly, Youth Assembly and a farewell dinner in the evening.
The European Non-Governmental Sport Organisation (ENGSO) also released its latest Position on the European Sport Model with a list of interim recommendations. The proposal aimed to develop the European Sport Model - the way sports clubs, National Federations and International Federations are organised - by addressing core issues and suggesting solutions. The document, also assessed its relationships with parties outside of the pyramid, support and solidarity for sports clubs and improved dialogue between sport and decision-makers.
The ENGSO events in Torshavn concluded on the topic of those outside of the pyramid that clubs, federations and other relevant sporting organisations should recognise the enablers, partners and competitors and be able to form strategies to improve sport with these stakeholders.
