ENAS Forum and General Assembly in Trondheim

Norwegian City of Trondheim was the host for the 2017 Forum and General Assembly of the European Network of Academic Sports Services (ENAS), held between November 14 and 17. The Forum under the title of “Evidencing the Impact of University Sport” united 165 delegates from 75 organizations and 20 countries.

It displayed an interesting array of speakers from various backgrounds. A very interesting finding was presented from a study in the UK, showing that students who engaged in volunteering activities in sports during their studies hat considerably better job opportunities and higher income than students who did not.

Lorenz Ursprung

Mr Lorenz Ursprung, Treasurer of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and Director of ASVZ, presented his views on university sports as a sellable product, putting focus on a thorough analysis of university sports stakeholders.

Arie Rosenzweig

At the event, Mr Arie Rosenzweig, former EUSA Executive Committee member and founding member of ENAS was appointed honorary member. The University of Leicester have been announced as the ENAS Award Winners for 2017 with their project Leicester Academy, offering students the opportunity to gain a wide range of coaching qualifications which they can then demonstrate by overseeing sport sessions in local schools.

New ENAS Board

At the ENAS General Assembly, Mr Mel Parker was elected new President of ENAS, Ms Andrea Altmann new Vice-President and Mr Bruno Almeida as the new Secretary General.
