Briefly describe how and why did you get involved in Judo?

I’m training since I’ve been 6 years old. I remember the beginning of my adventure with Judo while being in pre-school and even back then, the trainings were giving me a lot of joy. My coach is always telling me that he remembers so well when I was just at the beginning and now I’m 24 and have black belt. A bit of talent and hard work taught me how to win, but also how to deal with losing, so it’s all I need to know.

What do you study? How do you balance your study, trainings and competition?

I’m a student at Human Nutrition studies. Judo is a very demanding sport and it requires regularity, mainly for the weight requirements. It is necessary to have a strict diet and care about your health. That’s why I decided to study that subject and combine my passion and studies. Thanks to good time management, but also very understanding professors, I can balance my classes and still spend a lot of time to prepare myself for next steps in my sport career.

Tell us about your experience of the European Universities Championships 2017. Is this your first time at an EUSA event?

In 2017 in Coimbra, it was my first time at EUSA event. Taking part in the competition and the chance to represent my University, as well as my country, it was an unbelievable experience. It was an amazing adventure, which I will always remember with a smile.

In 2018 the European Universities Games 2018 will take place in Coimbra, Portugal, do you hope to be there? Why do you think university sport events are important?

For some students, events like this are a chance to fulfill your passion, but also for others it may be a great way to get involved and start your adventure in university sport. It is an honor to represent your University, not only at local level but also at the international one.

As for me – yes, I plan to come back to Coimbra this summer, this time for European University Games 2018. My goal for this year is to come back from Portugal with a medal.

This is your chance! What is your message to European students like yourself?

You should just believe in yourself and in the fact that you can make your dreams come true!
