EFPM celebrates 25 years

The European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) celebrated its 25th anniversary with the 25th edition of the European Fair Play Congress and the International Fair Play Committee World Fair Play Awards Ceremony, at which EUSA was present.

Taking place in Budapest, Hungary on September 12, the events were organised in partnership with the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) and European Fair Play Movement (EFPM), with the Congress held under the patronage of the European Olympic Committees and International Council of Sport Sciences and Physical Education.

The European Fair Play Movement is an official partner of EUSA, with the association present at the celebratory even by Mr Milan Zvan, Chair of the EUSA Education Commission and EUSA Executive Committee Member.

Held at the University of Physical Education under the title “Promoting the Ethical Values of Sports – 25 Years European Fair Play Movement”, the Congress began with welcome addresses from Mr Lajos Mocsai, Rector of the University, Mr Christian Hinterberger, President of EFPM and Mr Jeno Kamuti, International Fair Play Committee President.

Thereafter a number of talks were given, where challenges to fair play, the legal aspects of fair play as well as historical viewpoints were discussed.

Group discussions were then held in the afternoon, following which the World Fair Play Ceremony was held in the City Hall of Budapest.

EFPM awards evening

The evening ended with the EFPM Gala Night and Award Ceremony at the Hungarian Parliament, where a number of awards were handed out to stand-out candidates who have embraced the spirit of Fair Play.
