EAS Online Cafe on Parenting Dual Career Athletes
European Athlete as Student (EAS) - the Dual Career Network organised an online Cafe on the topic of Parenting Dual Career Athletes on Monday, November 30, 2020.
Participants were welcomed by EAS President Ms Laura Capranica, who gave a short introduction to the topic and stressed the complexity of dual career model, and the importance of parents and guardians of talented athletes.
The event was moderated by Mr Paolo Bouquet, and hosted three keynote speakers - Ms Mojca Doupona, EAS Treasurer and Coordinator of the European project Education Model for Parents of AThletes In Academics (EMPATIA); Mr Marco Arpino, General Affairs Manager of the Italian Olympic Committee, Olympian, former elite fencer; and Mr Kole Gjeloshaj, Deputy Secretary General of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) and Chair of the Consultative Committee Bureau of EPAS.
Each of the speakers presented their view and experiences on the topic, from professional as well as personal point of view.
The event brough together more than 50 participants interested in the topic of dual career, including representative of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the EUSA Institute. EUSA Institute is a partner of several Erasmus+-funded projects on dual career, including EMPATIA, which specifically focuses on the parents of talented and elite athletes.
