Croatia hosts Regional University Sports Conference
Participants from national university sports associations, including representatives from EUSA, gathered in Split, Croatia for a one-day Regional Conference on University Sport which took place on July 17, 2021.
The conference facilitated discussions around the promotion of university sport events and the challenges faced amid the current global pandemic.
Following the welcome address, EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek discussed the challenges facing European university sports, after which Mr Haris Pavletic spoke about promoting regional development and cooperation.
EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik then presented the projects and activities promoted by EUSA, following which a short question-and-answer session followed.
A presentation discussing marketing and the promotion of large-scale events by Mr Marko Zunic then followed, with Mr Francis Cirianni then presenting the impact of major university sports events in Italy followed by Mr Bruno Barracosa’s presentation on environmental sustainability in European university sports.
A panel discussion focusing on managing consequences and leveraging new opportunities amid the pandemic was then held, involving panellists Mr Adam Roczek, Mr Haris Pavletic, Mr Francis Cirianni, Mr Milan Zvan and moderated by Mr Bruno Barracosa, before the conference was concluded.
Conference delegates were then invited to the opening ceremony of the 2021 Croatian university sport finals, played in nine different sports across the weekend.
