Countdown to EUC Basketball

In a few days, the beautiful Spanish city Cordoba will host 11th European Universities Basketball Championship. The Championship begins on Wednesday, June 13th, and will last for seven next days, till July 20th. 


 Rector of the University of Cordoba Mr Jose Manuel Roldan Nogueras The Rector of the University of Cordoba, José Manuel Roldán Nogueras, declared that preparations are already over and the Organising Committees, local Authorities and habitants of Cordoba are waiting for teams from all over Europe to come. 

Thanks to the Championship, the city has now its time in spotlights, and it completely deserves it as, declared by UNESCO, World Heritage Site.

’I would like to highlight in this occasion the wonderful city that welcomes you, full of cultures and as university students will know how to value as it deserves to be’ – said the Rector. Cordoba will welcome the teams with really high air temperatures up to 37 Celsius degrees, but we hope that exciting games will give audience many emotions and raise temperature even more!

 

18 male and 12 female teams representing 29 universities from 17 different countries, sharing the dream of becoming the new European Universities Champions, will meet FELYINX, the championship’s mascot in a few days.

Last week, Championship’s presentation official press conference was held with a huge attendance and expectation, and also University of Cordoba’s both male and female teams were presented in the beautiful universities rectorship. Up to now, the Tournament has been warming up in Facebook, as its page www.facebook.com/eusabasket2011 gathered almost 200 people exchanging their teams pictures, their home cities highligts and the latest news from the Organising Committee.
