Cooperation in the field of university sport between Poland and Ukraine is a long-lasting one, starting from grassroot level. The cooperation was celebrated end of September by signing a formal cooperation agreement, and awarding honorary doctorate to a dedicated sport official.



The Polish delegation led by the Secretary of State from the Ministry of Sport of Poland Jaroslaw Stawiarski was heartily welcomed by his Ukrainian counterpart Mr Oleg Nemchinov. At the joint seminar, the parties exchanged their ideas and experience how to attract young people to sport, considering new environment and new trends in sport and technology. At the end of the meeting, The President of the University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) Mr Alojzy Nowak and the President of the Sports Students' Union of Ukraine (SSUU) Mr Evgeniy Imas signed an association agreement. The parties expressed hope that the geographical and cultural vicinity of Poland and Ukraine will facilitate international student friendship and strengthen the cooperation between the two.



On September 22, Mr Marian Dymalski was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa at the Lviv State University of Physical Education in Ukraine for his lasting contribution to the development of university sport and the promotion of bilateral relations between Poland and Ukraine in the field of sport and youth. Mr Dymalski is a Vice President of the University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) and Vice-President of the International University Sports Federation (FIUS). At this occasion Mr Dymalski gave a lecture on importance of international university sport, encouraging also the Sports Students' Union of Ukraine to take a more active part in these activities.
