Our member from Germany, the German University Sports Federation (ADH) informs us that a new Secretary General has been appointed. Mr Benjamin Schenk, former Head of Division Youth and Education, became the new Secretary General and heads the office in Dieburg.

The 36-year-old sports scientist had been working for the adh as youth and education officer since 2015. In this function, he succeeded in strengthening the adh education sector in its perception and role. He also worked on the educational potential of university sport in the higher education system and developed this as part of the legacy of university sport. As acting adh Secretary General, he successfully took over another area of responsibility from September 2021. Mr Schenk succeeds Mr Christoph Fischer, who has left the association at the end of 2021 at his own request after a professional reorientation.

Mr Schenk is now looking forward positively to his new role: "I am looking forward to my new tasks as adh Secretary General and to a constructive, trusting cooperation with the representatives of the adh member universities, the committees, the employees in the adh office as well as the national and international partners of the federation. I am highly motivated to lead and further develop the adh office in the sense of a modern service provider. It is also central for me to proactively meet the numerous current and future challenges. Integrating and transferring experience and know-how and directing them to future requirements and conditions of the federation's activities is an important task that I will gladly shape as ADH Secretary General."



ADH also informs us that the preparations for the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games are going well. Mr Stefan Kürten (62) has been selected as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the event end of last year, responsible for the successful conception and implementation of the multi-sport event Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, the organisation now also appointed the Chief Operations Officer (COO). Mr Kürten acted for many years as international media executive director at board level in Germany and abroad, among others as Executive Director Eurovision Sport of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Mr Alexis Schäfer (44) will become the COO as of February 1, 2022. The leadership of the major sports event will be strengthened with another sports industry top executive with the former Commercial and Marketing Director of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) joining the team. Through his previous 20-year tenure with the IPC, he has outstanding knowledge and experience as well as a strong global network in the sports business.
