European Universities Golf Championship
Liberec, Czech Republic: September 11-15, 2017
The European Universities Golf Championship 2017 was held in Liberec, Czech Republic, where 10 men’s teams and 7 women’s teams competed. The event involved over 80 individual athletes, representing 13 universities, from 7 European countries.
The championship was organised by the Czech University Sports Association (CAUS) and by the Technical University of Liberec, in collaboration with Golf Club Machnin, Czech Golf Federation and the Liberec regional board. EUSA was officially represented by Mr Aitor Canibe Sanchez, member of the Executive Committee, and by EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Miha Kurner. The team was also supported by EUSA Office staff member, Mr Davor Travnikar, EUSA Sports Assistant.
The University of Stirling (GBR) confirmed its supremacy in both categories of the team competition, gaining both gold medals. In the individual men’s competition, the first place was achieved by Victor Pastor Rufian representing the University of Malaga (ESP), while the individual women’s competition was won by Shannon Burke, representing the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (IRL).
After the conclusion of the competitions, the EUSA flag was lowered and officially given to the representative of the organising committee of the next European Universities Golf Championship, which will be organised in Antequera, Spain, in 2019.
