The European Universities Water Polo Championship has finally concluded on 19th of July 2023 with an exciting Medal and Closing Ceremony at the Outdoor Bath of Ellipsum, in Miskolc, Hungary.

Over 130 participants from 7 Universities from 3 countries took part in this year’s edition of the event.

The 2023 European Universities Water Polo Championship in Miskolc was a remarkable celebration of athleticism, fair play, and excellence. Athletes from across Europe showcased their outstanding performances, captivating water polo enthusiasts and dignitaries alike.

The medals and awards were presented by Mr. Miklós Gór-Nagy, Sports Director of the Hungarian Water Polo Federation, Mr. Gábor Vogel, Water Polo Technical Delegate of EUSA, Mr. György Kovács , EUSA Technical Commission Vice Chair, and Mr. Pál Veres, Mayor of Miskolc.

At the final winners podium we had three Hungarian universities taking the medals:

1. Budapest Business School (HUN)

2. University of Pécs (HUN)

3. University of Debrecen (HUN)

Other important awards were given, as well:

Most Valuable Player - Márton Keresztúri, University of Pécs

Best Goalkeeper: Márk Gábor Szalai - Budapest Business School

Top Scorer: Kristóf Sziládi - Corvinus University

The event, organised with the utmost dedication by the University of Miskolc, the Hungarian University Sports Federation, and the European University Sports Association (EUSA), brought people together in a spirit of mutual understanding.

As the medal ceremony honoured these highly skilled student-athletes, the message of fair play, teamwork, and passion for Water Polo resonated strongly, inspiring all to continue fostering these values in the pursuit of sporting greatness.

The next EUC will take place in Vukovar, Croatia and all teams are warmly welcomed to join the next European Universities Water Polo Championship in 2025.

The EUSA flag was passed to representatives of the University of Vukovar: Mrs. Sanja Gongeta -Vice Dean for International Cooperation at the University of Vukovar, Mr. Slobodan Stojanovic - Vice Dean for Finance at the University of Vukovar, Mr. Željko Sudarić - Dean at the University of Vukovar, Mr. Dražen Pejić - Director of the Sports Association of University of Vukovar.
