Celebrating the International Day of University Sport
The fourth edition of the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) is being celebrated around the world on September 20. With nearly 100 countries having participated in the 2018 edition, it is expected that the numbers this time round will grow further, with thousands of university students, institutions and cities coming together.
The staff of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) started the day with an early morning hike to Smarna gora near Ljubljana, catching the sunrise. As EUSA is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year at the upcoming Conference, Assembly and Gala in Aveiro, the main activities are yet to come next week.
While IDUS is all about celebrating University Sport, FISU encourages you to share your activities via social media and spread the word about today's cause. "Share your #LetsIDUS story with us now," says FISU President Oleg Matytsin in his video message.
Proclaimed and endorsed by UNESCO and FISU, the International Day of University Sport promotes the importance of sport in universities and the role of universities in local communities, on one hand promoting dual career, as well as sport for all on the other.
