Celebrating International Volunteer Day on December 5

The International Volunteer day (IVD) is celebrated on December 5 worldwide, being recognised as a special day also by the United Nations (UN). IVD pays a tribute to all existing volunteers and gives organizations as well as individual volunteers a chance to promote the idea and importance of volunteering.

With this year's global slogan and theme "The world is changing. Are you? Volunteer!", the IVD 2015 is challenging every one of us to be part of implementing the newly launched Global Goals, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. On December 5 we not only celebrate volunteerism in all its facets - but also pay special tribute to volunteers working to implement the new global goals. Through volunteerism the person can impact the sustainable development agenda by mobilizing and engaging governments and communities. For IVD 2015, join volunteers in recognizing the individuals who are engaged in volunteering their time, energies, and skills to change the world for a better future.

2015 IVD slogan: The world is changing. Are you? Volunteer!

EUSA, the European University Sports Association, is very proud to annually involve so many volunteers, encompassing short-term volunteering: volunteers at EUSA events (Championships, Games), long-term volunteering (internships and EVS service in EUSA Office) and voluntary work in EUSA structures (board and commission members). In 2015, EUSA received a status of observer in the European Commission's Expert Group on Human Resources Development in Sport (XG HR), in the topic of volunteering.
