On March 10, Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF) held their gala at the French Pavilion in Zagreb. Among the participants were also the Rector of the University of Zagreb, Mayor of the City of Zagreb, representatives of Sport Head office of Croatia, President’s office, Croatian Olympic Committee and sports organisations, and the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

At the event, special awards were presented for the best male and female student athletes, best male and female student athletes with disabilities and best university teams.



The success and importance of the past European Universities Games held in Zagreb and Rijeka (EUG2016) also had a focal point of the gala.

Mr Zrinko Custonja, CASF and EUG2016 President thanked the authorities, local universities and cities for their support, and gave especial emphasis on excellent cooperation with EUSA in supporting the event and development of university sport in Croatia in general.



EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek also addressed the participants, congratulating the hosts for an excellent edition of the European Universities Games, setting new records and standards of this university sport event and expressed his gratitude to all partners who made the event possible.



Mr Roczek also praised CASF for being one of the most active EUSA members, and thanked also the hosts cities and universities for their invaluable support. At this occasion he presented a copy of the latest EUSA Magazine to the Rector of the University of Zagreb Mr Damir Boras and the Mayor of Zagreb Mr Milan Bandic.



Besides EUSA President Mr Roczek, the Gala was attended also by EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and EUSA Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti, who served during the European Universities Games 2016 as the Operational Manager of the event.
