CASF celebrates university sport success

The Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF) held its annual UniSport Stars award ceremony for the 2023/2024 sports season on February 10th in Zagreb.
The festive event celebrated the achievements of student-athletes and was attended by officials from various sports, political representatives, members of the Croatian and international university sports community, and award winners.
Distinguished guests from Croatian public life were also present, including representatives from the Croatian Parliament, the national government, the cities of Zagreb and Split, the Croatian Olympic Committee, and other Croatian sports federations.
Representatives from both International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA) were also in attendance at the award ceremony.
The European University Sports Association (EUSA) was represented by its President, Adam Roczek, and Secretary General, Matjaz Pecovnik, both presenting certain significant awards.
In his welcoming address, Haris Pavletic, President of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation, warmly greeted all attendees at the UniSport Stars ceremony. He emphasized the exceptional work accomplished by the federation, highlighting their dedication to fostering student sports, pointing numerous successful projects and events organized by CASF.
During the UniSport Stars ceremony, awards were presented in several categories: best athlete, best female collective, best male collective, best coach, fair play award, and special recognition for contribution to the development and promotion of student sports in Croatia. The volunteer of the year was also recognized for their dedication to numerous international competitions.
The University of Zagreb received special recognition for international contribution and promotion of academic sports, having won 29 medals at the European student championships and a world title in futsal, solidifying its position as a leading academic sports institution in Europe.
Securing the organization of the European Universities Games 2028 in Split was highlighted as a major accomplishment and key success for CASF in 2024.
EUSA congratulates the Croatian Academic Sports Federation and all award recipients, wishing them continued success in both sports and academics.
