BUCS Conference opens registration

British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the BUCS Conference, to take place at the University of Exeter July 10-13, 2012. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Enhancing the Student Experience through Sport’ and will consider the importance of sport in enhancing the student experience and satisfaction, the health and welfare of students and staff, the reputation of the University and its potential as a recruitment tool.

The opening keynote will be delivered by Professor Van Gore, Vice-Chancellor of Southampton Solent University and will consider how sport can be embedded in a university strategy. Delegates will also learn about the challenges and pressures on Higher Education from Professor Sir Steve Smith, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Exeter, past President and current Board member of Universities UK.

The conference will be one of the first to be held in ‘the Forum’, the University of Exeter’s £48 million development, which will be officially opened in May by the Queen as part of her Diamond Jubilee Tour.

BUCS CEO Karen Rothery said “Our annual conference, AGM and Awards Dinner is a highlight of the year for us and our members, and we are genuinely delighted to be going to the University of Exeter in 2012. We are confident that our delegates, partners and guests will have a fantastic week, and enjoy a showcase of all that is great about sport in higher education.”
