BUCS Big Wednesday 2016 closes the season in the UK

The 2015/16 season came to an enthralling conclusion for 14 sports on March 16 as the UK’s top sporting universities ensured a memorable BUCS Big Wednesday in Sheffield, the biggest #BUCSwednesday of them all.

There were a slew of impressive performances from the 104 teams competing across the four venues, featuring championships and trophy competitions in badminton, basketball, fencing, football, hockey, indoor cricket, lacrosse, netball, rugby league and rugby union, squash, table tennis, volleyball and water polo.

Fencing was one of the sports

Northumbria University stole the show with a total of six wins - including four championship and two trophy but not far behind them, Loughborough University secured four wins all of them being championship, where Nottingham took home five titles with three of them being championships.

Take a Stand campaign

British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) also took the opportunity to raise awareness and promote the Take a Stand campaign during the events.
